Delete your Nora account
This page explains how to delete your Nora account and what happens to your data. Nora is the conversational language learning app operated by Nora languages AB, based in Stockholm, Sweden.
Option 1: Delete from inside the app (recommended)
If you still have Nora installed:
- Open the Nora app.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm the deletion.
Your account and all associated data is removed as soon as you confirm. The action cannot be undone.
Option 2: Request deletion by email
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the email address registered on your account and include the subject line "Account deletion request".
We process email requests within 30 days. We may ask you to verify the email address before deletion so that no one else can request the removal of your account.
What data is deleted
When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed from our systems:
- Profile information (name, email, profile picture, language preferences)
- Conversation transcripts and history
- Vocabulary lists, saved sentences, and dictionary lookups
- Journey progress, objectives, and learning analytics
- Personalization preferences and onboarding answers
- Push notification tokens and device identifiers
- Your customer record with our payment processor (Stripe)
Any active subscription is cancelled at the time of deletion. You will not be billed again.
What data is retained
A small amount of data is retained for legal, accounting, and fraud prevention reasons:
- Billing records and invoices. Financial transaction records as required by applicable accounting and tax law. These records are pseudonymised after account deletion and do not contain your learning content.
- Anonymised server logs. Access logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and fraud prevention, then automatically purged.
- Marketing email suppression list. If you previously received marketing emails, your email address is retained on a suppression list so that we do not contact you again. You can request removal of this entry by emailing [email protected].
Subscriptions purchased through Google Play or the App Store
If you subscribed to Nora Pro through Google Play or the Apple App Store, deleting your Nora account stops you from accessing the app, but it does not automatically cancel the subscription on the platform side. To avoid further charges, cancel the subscription before or after deleting your account:
- Google Play: Open the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, select Nora, and tap Cancel subscription.
- App Store: Open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, select Nora, and tap Cancel subscription.
